Person-Centered Approach
The Person-Centered Approach, developed by Carl Rogers, is a non-directive form of talk therapy that emphasizes the client's role in their own growth and self-discovery. This approach operates on the principle that individuals have within themselves vast resources for self-understanding and for altering their self-concepts, attitudes, and self-directed behavior. Therapists provide a supportive environment that offers unconditional positive regard, empathy, and congruence, enabling clients to express themselves freely and reach their potential for personal development. It's particularly effective in fostering personal responsibility and self-healing.
